New CD, "Up For Air" is finally here! You can click on the CD covers for CDBaby, or click the iTunes link to take you there. Any REMIXERS out there in folk music land? Any of you DJs or remix types want to try your hand at mashing up some folk music? You've come to the right place! Very soon I'm going to have a "REMIX SECTION" installed on the site. You'll be able to download the INDIVIDUAL TRACKS for each song... that is, you'll have access to the same tracks we originally mixed in the studio, and you can remix them yourself! You'll be able to play along, sing along, rearrange, and create your own mashups. We'll have a place for you to upload your finished mixes, for comparisons, critiques, and other big fun. And for those of you who are intimidated by this emerging culture, we'll have instructions and tips on how to create your own remixes and mashups. Stay tuned.... I'm intending to start up a blog here, in hopes of keeping y'all informed as to my whereabouts, what I'm doing, and so forth. Nothing formal...just a few notes periodically to keep the flow going. I'm still living in the little town of Port Chalmers, just outside of Dunedin, New Zealand. I'm way down in the South Island, watching the ships and the sailboats on the bay, the gulls and the shags as they soar overhead, and the everchanging weather as it constantly stirs things up around here. It's a peaceful little village, inhabited by a wide variety of Bohemians and artists, sailors and dockworkers, fishermen and loggers. The kind of place where you say hello to the milkman every day, the kids play in the street, you get together with the locals to play pingpong on Thursday nights, and life takes a very slow turn of the wheel. You can hear the giant cranes at night as they lift cargo from the holds of huge vessels docked at the port. There's a small train that comes through every so often. I feel like the old man who, when asked about living in a remote place replied, "Well, I don't exactly live in the middle of nowhere, but anybody who drives past my place ain't goin' anywhere..." I'm
a lecturer in the Music Dept. here at the
University of Otago in Dunedin. It keeps me on my toes, trying to stay
abreast of happenings in the music world, both musical and technological. I'm
still playing gigs here and there around New Zealand, and still love the energy
here. There is a local Dunedin music site HERE,
and a weekly guide to what's happening in Dunedin HERE.
There's also a pretty cool Kiwi artists' site right HERE.
Thanks for stopping in. Please take a moment to sign the guestbook while you're here. I appreciate it. Oh, and if you want to read a normal bio, and maybe hear some my my music, you can go HERE. And,
like everyone else in the world, I've even got a MySpace page HERE,
and a Facebook page
